Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had earlier provided some relaxations due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic till 30th June 2021 via Order No. 15(6)2020/FLRS/RCD/FSSAI dated 20th April 2021. 

Now, in continuation of the said order, FSSAI via Order dated 23rd June 2021 (which was published on 25th June 2021) has extended relaxations till 31st August 2021 in respect of following only :

  1. Extension for timeline for submission of online Annual Returns through FoSCoS (earlier it was extended till 30th June 2021)
  2. Waiver of late fees for renewal of license (earlier it was extended till 30th June 2021)
However, following relaxations shall be ceased w.e.f. 30th June 2021 :
  1. Permission to FBOs (other than manufacturers) to operate food business on the basis of 17 digit application reference number.
  2. Permission to FBOs (manufacturers) to operate with higher capacity food business on the basis of application for modification of license having 17 digit application reference number.
  3.  Limited inspections and e-inspection provision relaxations.
